The source of the Fontaine de Vaucluse is a mystery in itself. We do not yet know where the water comes from, after all, only partially.

The source results from the emergence of a huge underground network.
The water that flows into Fontaine de Vaucluse comes from the infiltration of rainwater and melting snow from the south of Mont Ventoux, the Monts de Vaucluse and the Montagne de Lure.

But at least once a year the source empties following heavy rains or snowmelt.
